Approved economic operator (third party)
Repairer, remanufacturer, second-life operator, or distributor: this role steps in on a one-off basis on a battery it does not yet own.
At a glance
Who
A repairer, remanufacturer, second-life operator, or distributor acting on a battery it does not (yet) own.
Access
Extended read access to data reserved for parties with a legitimate interest, with the ability to initiate a responsibility transfer to a new passport.
Its journey with a battery
- 1
Stepping in on a takeover
This role comes into play when a battery is taken over — reuse, refurbishment, or second life — never outside that context.
- 2
Extended read access
In addition to the public data, it views the data reserved for parties with a legitimate interest: detailed composition, disassembly information, safety instructions — enough to assess the battery before refurbishment.
- 3
Initiating a responsibility transfer
Its only possible action is to initiate a responsibility transfer — never a free-form field edit. The old passport becomes read-only, a new linked passport is created for the battery's second life, and it becomes responsible for that new passport as the new owning operator.
Verification-gated access
Access to this role is conditioned on a prior verification of its economic-operator registration and legitimate interest, handled manually by the platform.
What the history shows
By default, this role sees only the date of the passport's last update, not its full history.
